U nailed it H M. Christians are so naive and can be easily fooled by such low level or mediocre events propagated by people who want to get a toehold in Mangalores cultural and political circles. We don’t question and just get along with the flow. And the so called cultural ambassadors of Konkani stoop down to such low level (kashti).Rightly so u have raised a valid point. Also why a priest has to promote a film which has negated many historical facts. Why we people are so submissive and take whatever is thrown at us. Why have we lost our reasoning power?
Promoting Konkani language or it’s culture & tradition is not at all a wrong thing!
In the bargain religious people must also remember and be more careful about their primary ‘oath & duty’ while indulging in such social public gatherings!
At any cost it shouldn’t bring disrepute to the community at large!

I never knew that a Langoti was our Konkani culture as if we only wearing it and rest of the people not. The promoters have or using clergy for their film promotion … What a shame these priests are becoming prey ?

HM, the film is a commercial venture and it need to be promoted like that and not in this way. If at all Konkani is existing, its because of the liturgy and mass celebrated in Konkani and the Church has played a huge role in preserving our language, traditions and culture attached to the feasts and celebrations and most important the people speaking Konkani at home, in society wherever they reside either in India or overseas. No doubt the film is a media but producers should not give a false idea to the people that because of them Konkani is preserved. Its our people who support anything including this film to see that Konkani is preserved in the coming age and Kudos to Konkani speaking people all over the world.
Exactly.These people thinking and acting like they are protectors of konkani culture and language.They want Catholics to promote their movie based on false narrative.Unfortunately our priests are so dumb, they are taken for a royal ride. It’s high time the priests stick to their religious mission than joining hands with these business people. It’s not asmitai but askatkai of our priests.
